Is Apple Totalitarian?

Did you hear that Apple wants to restrict what language you can write your iPhone apps in? This is intended to stop Adobe from compiling Flash into Objective-C for the iPhone, but as a consequence, it will also stop enthusiasts of other languages like Scheme, Lua, and Squeak from developing for the iPhone in their language of choice. This is evil! Even IBM and Microsoft never resorted to such tactics during the heights of their evil empires (that I’m aware of). Don’t think different, don’t innovate, and most certainly, don’t use Flash. I was going to write a longer rant, but I see that Hank Williams has already done it for me.

Maybe I should have titled this article "Apple IS Totalitarian".
