Archimedes' Death Ray

I've always thought that the legends of Archimedes' Death Ray must be true. It seems that engineers at MIT have shown the idea to be feasable. Their results were achieved with 127 one foot square mirrors. Imagine what a few thousand soldiers could do with larger polished bronze shields/mirrors.
