Massive Change
I went with my family to the "Massive Change" exhibit at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) this weekend and found it very interesting.
According to the
Massive Change website, the exhibit was:
Commissioned and organized by the Vancouver Art Gallery, curated by Bruce Mau and designed by the Institute without Boundaries, the exhibition invites viewers to consider the dynamic future of design culture and the crucial real-life choices we must make. Massive Change is dramatic, engaging and critical, immersing visitors in a series of powerful encounters with the latest innovations in the fields of urban design, transportation, information design, revolutionary material and more.
I especially liked the
electric vehicles, the
family tree of input devices (at the bottom of the page), and the
advanced materials display. The problem with the exhibit however was that most of the displays were of the type that you would like to touch and interact with and yet no touching was allowed. The whole point of an input device is how it feels to input with and what better way to appreciate the lightness of the worlds lightest solid (
aerogels) that to hold one and feel its weight (or absence thereof). But alas, no.
If you live in or around Toronto, or somewhere else where the exhibit shows up in the future, then I recommend checking it out.
